Niacinamide is one of the most useful ingredients in modern skincare because it does several quiet jobs well. It helps your skin make more ceramides, supports the barrier, calms redness, regulates oil, and can gradually help with pigment.
The sweet spot for most people is around 2 to 10 percent. Higher is not automatically better, and very high percentages can flush or irritate sensitive skin. It plays well with almost everything, including vitamin C and retinoids.
